Nappies can be recycled at all of our recycling sites. Or make the switch to reusable nappies and we will repay you up to £100 towards the cost!

Keep it to 3 exemptions

The vast majority of waste households produce is recyclable. By using our kerbside recycling services, your black bag waste will be minimal. Not all household waste can be recycled though which is why certain households who produce large quantities will be able to apply for an exemption to the limit.

Households who are granted an exemption will only be able to place non recyclable waste/material into their black bags. There is to be no recyclable material in any extra bags for an exemption to be granted.

We understand some households eg houses with multiple occupants (HMOs), large families will have difficulties with the 3 bag limit. These households will also be able to apply for an exemption.

Exemptions are available for

  • Waste such as pet litter or bedding. This waste can't be recycled and should be placed in our special clear bags.
  • Nappies. This waste can be recycled and should be disposed of in our special purple bags. They are collected every two weeks as part of our hygiene waste service.

To apply for an exemption you will need to request an exemption application form using the form below.

If you are granted an exemption it will be valid for 1 year initially and your waste may be monitored. Terms and conditions apply.
