Street trading

Street trading is selling or offering to sell any item in the street. This includes any road, path, beach, or other area to which the public have free access to.

All streets in Swansea need to have Street Trading Consent to trade. There are two designated trading areas in Swansea, the city centre inner zone and the outer zone which covers all public and private land within the local authority area outside the City Centre.

Where can you trade in the city centre inner zone?

The city centre inner zone has fixed pitches designated by the City Centre Management. There are currently 11 designated pitches and you are able to work from a pitch with consent.

Where can you trade in the outer zone (all other areas outside the city centre)?

The outer zone includes all public and private land outside the city centre. There are no designated pitches in the outer zone and you are able to work either as a mobile trader or from a pitch with consent.
